Blow Hole
The Hummanaya Blow Hole is a natural wonder that sprays a jet of sea water into the air between two giant rocks; sometimes reaching heights of over 80 – 100 feet, and should be added to your list of things to see while you stay with us in Mirissa. The best time to see this is during high tide, as you can experience the salty spray on your skin as seawater jets towards the sky and falls back on its wide-eyed audience.

Dondra Point – Point Pedro
Dondra Head Lighthouse is a lighthouse located on Dondra Head, Dondra, the southernmost point in Sri Lanka and is Sri Lanka's tallest lighthouse, and also one of the tallest in South East Asia. Dondra Head lighthouse is operated and maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The lighthouse is near the village of Dondra, and is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) southeast of Matara. The name Dondra is a synonym for "Devi-Nuwara" in the local Sinhala language, "Devi" meaning "Gods" and "Nuwara" meaning "City". Dondra is therefore derived to mean "City of the Gods".

Handunugoda Estate is the only tea estate situated in the coastal belt of Sri Lanka specializing in the artisanal manufacturing of ‘virgin white tea’ and is one of the handful of estates in Sri Lanka exporting high-quality luxury teas to global markets. Herman teas are highly specialized Teas aiming to tickle the taste buds of the consumers, providing a memorable experience while maintaining its unique flavour, can be brewed several times.

Stick Fishermen – Koggala
Stilt fishermen are often seen in the coast around Galle, in towns like Koggala or Ahangama. Some fishermen might charge you a small fee, whether you're taking a picture of them or yourself on their stilts. Experienced fishermen will give you a step-by-step explanation on how to catch fish while perched on a cross-shaped beam. Try your hand at it too. Should you do get lucky and catch a fish, bring it back to our chefs and they’ll prepare it the way you like!

Turtle Farm – Habaraduwa
Kosgoda is famous for its sea turtle conservation project operated by the Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1988 to protect Sri Lanka’s turtles from extinction. Since then it has released about 3.5 million baby turtles into the sea. The hatchery pays fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the long sandy beach. The hatchery buries the eggs in the sand, and when they hatch around 50 days later the baby turtles are released into the sea at night. Turtle hatchery also has tanks for injured or disabled turtles, including albino turtles that would not survive in the sea.

Koggala Lake – Boat Tour

A short hike to the summit of the Rumassala Hill and you’ll find yourself in awe of the pristine pagoda. Galle Fort
The story of the Galle Dutch Fort; a UNESCO World Heritage Site reverberates through every traveller’s photos and captions. Initially built by the Portuguese in the 16th century during their conquests, the fort was later fortified and conquered by the Dutch in the 17th century, until it later fell to the might of the British. The old town of Galle was once used as a trading port for spices and other goods for over 200 years.
